The Y416H MONOCRYL® Sutures are advanced synthetic, absorbable sutures designed to provide superior performance for a wide range of surgical procedures. These sutures are made from a copolymer of glycolide and epsilon-caprolactone, offering a combination of strength and flexibility that is ideal for soft tissue approximation and ligation. Here are the key features and specifications of the Y416H MONOCRYL® Sutures:

  • Material: Made from a copolymer of glycolide and epsilon-caprolactone, MONOCRYL® Sutures are designed to ensure optimal performance and absorption. The material is known for its excellent tensile strength and smooth passage through tissue.
  • Absorbability: MONOCRYL® Sutures are fully absorbable, gradually breaking down within the body over time, which eliminates the need for suture removal. The absorption profile is predictable and consistent, with substantial absorption within 90-120 days.
  • Size: These sutures are size 3-0, making them suitable for a variety of surgical applications, including subcutaneous closures and more delicate tissue repairs.
  • Length: Each suture strand is 27 inches long, providing ample length for various suturing techniques and procedures.
  • Needle: The sutures are attached to an SH needle, which stands for Small Half-circle, with a 1/2 circle curvature. This needle design is particularly useful for delicate tissue repair where precision is crucial.
  • Tensile Strength: MONOCRYL® Sutures maintain their tensile strength effectively during the critical wound healing period. They retain approximately 50-60% of their original tensile strength at one week and approximately 20-30% at two weeks post-implantation.
  • Smooth Tissue Passage: The sutures are designed to pass smoothly through tissues with minimal resistance, reducing tissue trauma and facilitating easier handling for surgeons.
  • Indications: MONOCRYL® Sutures are commonly used for general soft tissue approximation and ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures. However, they are not recommended for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues.
  • Sterility: Each suture is sterilized to ensure it meets the highest standards of safety and hygiene, reducing the risk of infection during surgical procedures.
  • Packaging: The sutures are individually packaged to maintain their sterility and integrity until the point of use. The packaging is designed for easy access and efficient use in the operating room.
